Taean Tulip Festival (April~May)
The Taean Tulip Festival allows visitors to get a breathtaking view of the lovely tulips and the pleasant floral scent as a way to fully enjoy the spring in Taean. In addition to the tulip exhibits, one can also get involved in a number of events including the Mini Concert on the Flower Bed and recreational activities.
Mongsanpo Sand Sculpture Festival (August)
The Mongsanpo Sand Sculpture Festival is a unique festival that can be enjoyed in August, the hottest month in Mongsanpo, Taean. Artworks made with the fine sand of Taean are lined up on the vast Mongsanpo Beach, and you can even watch the artists make sculptures out of sand in person. A growing number of fine works of art have been submitted over the years, making it an iconic summer festival of Taean.
Taean Sea Fishing Contest (September)
The Sea Fishing Contest is held in time for the season when the seawater temperature rises and the fish become more active, so the anglers entering the competition get to catch fish non-stop. Because it is so easy to catch flatfish and rockfish as well as sea bream, red sea bream and rock bream, considered premium fish, there have been a growing number of contestants entering the contest every year.
Anmyeondo Beach Shrimp Festival
The Anmyeondo Beach Shrimp Festival is held at Baeksajang Port on Anmyeondo Island, which is Korea’s largest wild jumbo shrimp collection and distribution center. The jumbo shrimps caught off the shores of Anmyeondo Island make up 80% of the total jumbo shrimp production volume of Chungcheongnam-do, and this is why you can purchase fresh jumbo shrimps at affordable prices here. Events such as catching jumbo shrimps and fish with bare hands are held during the festival, offering an especially fun experience for families with young children.
Taean Lighting Festival
Taean Lighting Festival is held at the Nature World located in Sinon-ri, Nam-myeon, Taean-gun. At night, tens of thousands of light bulbs are turned on to present a fantastic sight. The festival starts near sunset, so make sure you get to the venue in time to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
